Capcom Faces Layoffs; Is The New Dead Rising Dead?

Due to the reorganization of Capcom Vancouver, the new Dead Rising game might be gone, too.

Previously, we wrote in detail about the rumors regarding the new Dead Rising title, which would have had back-to-basics gameplay (and no numbering). The problem here is that multiple tweets, as well as Kotaku‘s report talks about layoffs at Capcom’s Vancouver studio.

Kotaku claims based on its source that roughly fifty people were let go from the Canadian studio, which had two games in development. One of them was an unannounced project in an early state, while the other one, the next Dead Rising, had its scope reduced massively, which could likely mean the game’s death in its current form!

However, Capcom‘s spokesperson told GamesIndustry that the team’s 30% was laid off, but „the team is continuing to work hard to support the recent release of Puzzle Fighter for mobile and is dedicated to its flagship Dead Rising series.” (They were working on Dead Rising since 2.)

We don’t have high hopes for the next Dead Rising IF it’s even getting completed.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title.
