Registrations For The PlayStation 4’s 5.50 Firmware Beta Testing Is Open!

Sony is preparing for another jump.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is always giving a possibility for a select few to try out the new functions or menus (or at least a part of them) before they are becoming widely available as they get the chance to test the new firmware. They are usually the .00 or the .50 system software updates, and now it’s 5.50’s turn to be tested. (5.00, codenamed Nobunaga, launched in October.)

We don’t know what the next major firmware update could bring, but Sony doesn’t test smaller updates which just „improve the system stability’s performance.” Still, you can register here if you are from North America. If you use a European account, your site to visit is this one. Register until January 23! Sony will notify you by email if you are one of the chosen players… but make sure you have a PlayStation Plus or a PlayStation Now subscription!

Sony is likely going to launch the 5.50 firmware around the middle of March to the public. Until then, be patient.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
