Physical sales of Hitman 2 in the UK by 90% lower than Absolution

The launch week of the new adventure of 47 has not lived up to what IO Interactive expected, at least in retail.

In recent times the Hitman saga has gone through some stormy moments. In the middle of last year IO Interactive and Square Enix separated trajectories , and then the Nordic studio found accommodation with Warner Bros as editor . All this seemed to augur a period of stability and tranquility for the brand, but now we know that Hitman 2 has not exactly had a good start of sales, at least in its physical format.

This was announced by the portal GamesIndustry, which explains that Hitman 2 has had a hard start compared to some of the previous deliveries in the United Kingdom. For example, they have fallen by 90% compared to Hitman Absolution, the latest installment of the adventures of Agent 47 that had a premiere in retail format.

Why do we compare with Hitman Absolution in 2012 instead of with Hitman in 2016 ? The last installment of the franchise first experienced a digital release and episodes only, not going on sale in physical until long after its release which is not a comparison that serves too much.

It remains to know how much of digital sales there will be in Hitman 2, a figure with respect to which the distributors tend to be much more opaque, however it is hard to imagine that, although these data are growing notably in recent times serve to cover that decline of 90% of physical sales.

We, in any case, have liked the video game and you can check our review of Hitman 2.
