Wolfenstein III Is „Absolutely” Being Made!

Pete Hines, Bethesda‘s marketing vice president, confirmed to Metro that MachineGames’ original plan for a trilogy will happen.

„Absolutely we’re making a Wolfenstein III. They [MachineGames] said on stage [at E3] that they’re taking a break from the larger story to do this thing [Youngblood]. But we all have to see how that ends. At the end of the day Wolfenstein [II: The New Colossus] did well for us, because we’re about to do two more Wolfenstein games. Could it have done better? Sure. But…”, Hines said. He thus confirmed that Youngblood, set in the 1980s’ Paris, will only be a cooperative spin-off and not a main title for the Swedish developers.

„Arkane has two studios; they’re working on a number of things. That’s no different than Todd Howard saying, ‘I’m going to make a Fallout game and then I’m going to make Starfield before I go back to The Elder Scrolls VI’. He didn’t say I’m never making another… there’s like, ‘We have an idea for another thing here, we have an idea for another there’. We are a business; we are trying to make money, so we’re doing things that we think are smart. We’re doing things we think people will want and will be successful. And it’s gonna continue to be a mix [between single-player and multiplayer/co-op games],” Hines added. Prey and Dishonored (which takes a rest) aren’t going to die.

Will Wolfenstein III be a next-gen title…?
