Is Crackdown 3’s Cloud-Based Multiplayer Too Big For The Xbox One? [VIDEO]

Crackdown 3, which got several days, might be going through its final delay…

We haven’t seen the heavily hyped multiplayer mode outside the pre-alpha build shown at Gamescom 2015, even though it’s the game’s essence: a completely destructible environment, supported by the Cloudgine technology. Have a look at its video, and then we’ll continue after that.

Eurogamer came forward with some insider information, saying that even this Gamescom demo was just a proof of concept. There’s no information about who is developing the multiplayer, because Sumo Digital (LittleBigPlanet 3) is working on Crackdown 3‘s singleplayer, according to David Jones, the creator of the franchise! (And he’s not even working on the game anymore.)

Eurogamer, based on its anonymous sources, claims that the fully destructible environment and the cloud-based multiplayer is just too big for the Xbox One. There was some multiplayer in mid-2017: Wrecking Zone supported up to ten players, with the goal of destroying the enemy’s tower before the time runs out (and matches were supposedly taking 20-30 minutes). We don’t know if this mode has cloud or not – Jones says it’s all up to Microsoft.

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, didn’t like the last build he played, allowing one more delay for Crackdown 3, which is why it was pushed to February 2019. However, that is rumoured to be the final delay. Either the game launches on February 22 on Xbox One and Windows 10 (along with several other games, such as Anthem), or it gets cancelled.

Catastrophic…
