PlayStation VR: The First Week Sales Of The New Model Are Here

The first week, Japanese sales aren’t that bad if we consider how the updated PlayStation VR‘s, the CUH-ZVR2‘s sales take a significant chunk of the total sales in Japan overall so far.

Media Create released the latest weekly sales of software and hardware in Japan, where the updated PlayStation VR, which launched on October 14 there, was also mentioned. We previously wrote in detail how the new version differs from the original model. During its launch week, the CUH-ZVR2 model sold 27 thousand units, which isn’t as much as the first model’s 52 thousand figure, but this performance pushed the PlayStation VR over 200 sales to 217 thousand, to be exact. (Still, 79 thousand out of 217K in two weeks is a lot – Sony sold more than a third of the PSVRs in two weeks?!)

The new PlayStation VR did not push the PlayStation 4, though – it still finished a long way behind the Switch, which pulled in September in the United States, crossing two million sales in the process.
