PewDiePie Is In Trouble Again!

This time, an indie game developer has had enough of the Swedish YouTube star.

Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, was playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and he called somebody – pardon the usage of the word – the “N_Word. He immediately realized what he said and proceeded to laugh in shame, but the Internet does not forget.

Sean Vanaman, Campo Santo‘s co-founder, has had enough of him. He is responsible for Firewatch, which came out 1.5 years ago on PlayStation and PC, followed by an Xbox One port later in 2016. On Twitter (- and all the replies from this tweet), he said the following:
„We’re filing a DMCA takedown of PewDiePie‘s Firewatch content and any future Campo Santo games. There is a bit of leeway you have to have with the internet when u wake up every day and make video games. There’s also a breaking point. I am sick of this child getting more and more chances to make money off of what we make. He’s worse than a closeted racist: he’s a propagator of despicable garbage that does real damage to the culture around this industry. I’d urge other developers & will be reaching out to folks much larger than us to cut him off from the content that has made him a millionaire. Furthermore, we’re complicit: I’m sure we’ve made money off of the 5.7M views that video has and that’s something for us to think about. […]
Freedom of speech is freedom of prosecution. His stream is not commentary; it is ad growth for his brand. Our game on his channel = endorsement.”

Since then, PewDiePie‘s Firewatch video has disappeared off of YouTube, and he didn’t comment regarding the situation. Felix has run into trouble multiple times this year on YouTube, and history seems to repeat itself.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
