Another Nintendo Console’s Production Ends!

After the Wii U, another product steps off the podium from the big N family.

Nintendo’s Japanese website states that the New Nintendo 3DS‘ production is ending. That’s all, no strings attached. This model launched in late 2014 in Japan, followed by early 2015’s debut in other regions. Nintendo’s decision to halt the manufacturing of this model is understandable.

The New 3DS XL sold 9.82 million units, while the base model, which is about to say goodbye, is only at 2.49 (!) million. Therefore, the XL remains, and the original version’s leaving the market behind. The fewer models are made, the cheaper the production is, which could be affecting the price positively.

The Americas will still get the console, but seeing how the local market stopped producing it, it’s just a question of time to affect other regions, too.
