Nintendo Reveals A New Console

This console is going to be sold out in hours.

Last autumn, one of the best products from Nintendo was the NES Classic Edition, which offered thirty pre-installed games, and an HDMI connection for those who wanted 8-bit experiences. So far, we heard the SNES Classic rumors quite a few times, but Nintendo has officially confirmed it.

In the US, the console is going to cost 80 dollars (or ten times more on eBay due to scalpers…), and the SNES Classic will again skip the cartridge slot and go for pre-installed games instead. 21 games will be on the little SNES, and one of them deserves mention: Star Fox 2 is going to be officially available for the first time. Here’s the complete list:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

The box will also have two controllers, an HDMI cable, and a USB charging cable with an AC adapter. The console will launch on September 29 in North America and Europe (followed by the Japanese edition on October 5 for 7980 yen, roughly 71 dollars – four games are different) with a bigger stock than the NES Classic, but that only means the scalpers will get even more money out of this console. Have a look at all three mini consoles – the order is North American, Japanese, European:
