A Hindu Cleric Attacks Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

He wants Hinduism to be respectfully and accurately portrayed in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game.

Rajan Zed has previously gone against other games as well – in Overwatch, he didn’t like Symmetra’s Devi skin, while Shin Megami Tensei IV’s Lord Krishna didn’t suit his views. The Hindu cleric has several positions, including being president of the Universal Society of Hinduism.

Zed’s request is understandable from an aspect: the game’s location will be India, which means the religion will show up no matter what happens. Quoting Zed’s press release: „Video-game makers should be more sensitive while handling faith related subjects, as these games were a powerful medium which left a lasting impact on the unsuspecting minds of highly impressionable children, teens, and other young people. If Sony Corporation or its subsidiaries or other video-games developers needed any expertise on Hinduism, oldest and third largest religion of the world with about 1.1 billion adherents and a rich philosophical thought, he or other Hindu scholars would gladly provide the resources.”

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is out on August 22/23 (NA/EU), exclusively on PlayStation 4.
