Another Crytek Studio Gets Saved

After Budapest, another ex-Crytek team comes back.

Crytek Budapest was taken over by Leslie Benzies, an ex-Rockstar North president, which could be a good decision. Crytek Black Sea isn’t under Benzies’ control, though: it was purchased by SEGA, who immediately renamed the studio (known for strategy/RTS games such as Knights of Honor, Arena of Fate, and Worldshift) to Creative Assembly Sofia. Their decision makes sense…

Why did Crytek sell their studio in Sofia? The reason is simple: Cevat Yerli and his company have some financial troubles, and it’s unlikely that Robinson – The Journey, a VR game’s development, has helped their situation.

With the sale, Creative Assembly, who recently made Halo Wars 2 with 343 Industries, gets stronger than before and seeing how SEGA gains more and more foothold in strategy/RTS games (Dawn of War III is out in late April), people liking the genre might find themselves stacked with quality products.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
