A FEMALE TV Star Is Trying To Be The Next Bond! You’ll Never Guess Which One!

MOVIE NEWS – It’s very likely that a new James Bond actor may arrive shortly. Daniel Craig had enough: he told the press that he’d rather slit his wrists than put Bond’s tuxedo on once more, and he has apparently refused the offer to return. It begs the very question: – who shall be the next James Bond?

Some actor’s names like Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba have been around, but right now the future of Bond is a little hazy. So the actors themselves are taking the time to launch their very own campaign to play 007, and you’d be very surprised at who’s trying to be… Jane Bond!

That’s right; Gillian Anderson is trying to be the female agent 007! You probably know Anderson best as Agent Dana Scully from the hit TV series X-Files. Scully was an FBI Agent and doctor who, alongside her partner Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), solved supernatural cases that usually involved all manner of creatures like aliens, swamp men, inbred cannibals, and werewolves. I think Scully would rather relax at home with a good book than drink a martini, but she does have the Bond skills to pay the Bond bills.

What actually happened: an unknown internet fan decided to make a James Bond movie poster with Anderson featured as Bond in it and it actually got a lot of traction on Twitter, getting shared thousands of times with much of the reaction to the outside of the box idea being very positive. Anderson took to Twitter herself to respond to the fan push, seeming to be open to the idea as completely unlikely as it would be.

It seems like this is more of a fan campaign than anything, and Gillian Anderson is just supporting her fans for suggesting her. Still, that doesn’t make it any less cool, though. She’s hardly the first actor to campaign for a role through social media. Tyrese Gibson has been doing a social media campaign to play Green Lantern John Stewart in the DC Extended Universe for a quite a while now. So, while I wouldn’t put her chances as very high to be the next Bond, it’s interesting that she’s even in the conversation.

Obviously, there is almost no way that the producers of the Bond series would cast a woman in the role, as Anderson herself joked that it is not Jane Bond, but it is James Bond, after all. Though, there have been plenty of examples over the years of social media campaigns getting the attention of producers, so it is possible that all of the fan attention could put Anderson on the radar of Sony and MGM, but that doesn’t mean she would get the role of 007. However, Anderson could fit into the world of Bond as another 00 agent at MI6 or maybe even a villain. This is of course wild and outlandish speculation, but it isn’t exactly that hard to imagine.

Meanwhile the search for a new Bond continues. There have been no official announcements for a new Bond film yet, but it’s a foregone conclusion that another will happen sometime down the road. The Daniel Craig Bond is founded in more gritty realism than his former counterparts, though you can argue that the last few films have tried to incorporate more gadgets and typical Bond high jinks. Perhaps the next slate of 007 films will return the series to its roots and be a little bit sillier? If we can accept a character as inherently silly as Thor, then anything is possible.
