Ana de Armas To Star in ‘Blade Runner 2’ alongside Harrison Ford

MOVIE NEWS – Ana de Armas, the cute star of ‘Knock Knock’ enters the expanding cast of ‘Blade Runner 2’ – the sequel to Ridley Scott‘s 1982 masterpiece Blade Runner – together with Harrison Ford, Dave Bautista, Ryan Gosling and Robin Wright.

The news was announced by Alcon co-founders and co-CEO’s Andrew Kosove, and Broderick Johnson and they also added, that it will be a “leading role” for Ana. Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Prisoners) will be behind the cameras of Blade Runner 2. The shooting is planned to begin July 2016. The film will be published by Warner Bros. in North America, but Sony Pictures Releasing International will distribute in all media for all overseas territories – which means Europe as well.

Cuban-born Ana de Armas commenced her career in Spanish-language television and film in her own country: Cuba, then later Spain in. We can see her in two major motion pictures releasing this August, which includes The Weinstein Company’s boxing biopic Hands of Stone, in which she will play alongside Robert De Niro and Edgar Ramirez, and Warner Bros.’ comedic drama War Dogs starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller.

Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights to Blade Runner in 2011 from the late producer Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic science-fiction thriller.

Blade Runner 2 will be set several decades after story of the 1982 original movie. Harrison Ford will reprise his iconic role as “Blade Runner” Rick Deckard, with Ryan Gosling as a co-star. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green wrote the script which succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples which was based on the excellent Philip K. Dick’s book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Unfortunately story details are still unknown. Multi-Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins (Sicario, Prisoners) would reunite with Villeneuve on the project.

Cynthia Sikes Yorkin will produce along with Johnson and Kosove. Bud Yorkin will receive a producer credit. Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, will serve as executive producers. Ridley Scott will also executive produce. Bill Carraro will executive produce. Ana is represented by CAA, Impression Entertainment and Grubman Shire & Meiselas, P.C.
