The Division breaks records… or does it?

The Division has a lot of hype going for it. Ubisoft‘s MMO has about as much hyping as say, last year’s Evolve, if not more. Ubisoft is bashing its chest proudly for the results that The Division could achieve with its open beta.

According to the official numbers, The Division had 6.4 million players during the open beta testing, and they played for an average of five hours in the infected city of New York. The game broke records on current generation consoles with this result, however…

There’s a twist to it. They pulled this off as a new IP. There’s another game from last autumn that managed to pull in way more players than The Division. It’s Star Wars Battlefront that had over nine million people playing its beta, making its result about 50% better than Ubisoft’s game.

The French company keeps finding ways to be proud of itself – last year, there was a free game for PS Plus members, and they said the game had an outstanding amount of downloads. Yeah, if you offer something for free, of course, there will be a lot of interest…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
