Gamescom 2016: A surprise new partner country next year

Gamescom will receive a new partner in the 2016 show. It’s not going to be a country you’d first think of. France? No. The United Kingdom? Not even close. Spain? Nah. Italy? Nope. Sweden? Cold. So, who is it going to be?

Turkey! The „European E3”, which will be held between August 17 and 21, will open towards a new region, namely Eurasia. Turkey is a country with a growing video game culture, mainly because of a younger population structure. With this agreement, Gamescom can open the road towards a new path, an untapped potential, a new region. The growth in Turkey is mainly led by online and mobile games.

Don’t forget, Crytek was formed in Germany by Cevat, Avni and Faruk Yerli, who are all originate from Turkey. This is a reason the Yerli brothers opened a studio for Crytek in Istambul. So, it might be a surprising decision at first thought, but seeing how the Turkish population has a big potential, it’s starting to make sense!

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
