Sony has delayed the Chinese launch of PlayStation 4 some days before its intended 11th January release date. According to a Reuters report the company attributed “various factors” for the delay up,.

A new release date has not yet been established. There’s no word on if the postponement also affects PlayStation Vita, which due to be released in the country on the same day. The PlayStation 4 was due to cost ¥2899 yuan (about £300), while the Vita was announced to cost ¥1299 (about £135).

China revoked a long-running ban on game consoles precisely a year ago, and since this date both Sony and Microsoft have been working to release their machines. Xbox One underwent the same kind of delay when launching in China last September. No official reason was given at the time either, but the hold-up was thought to be due to the Chinese government’s strict approval process for games released in the country.
