The Development Of Steep Took Someone’s Life!

Extreme sports game Steep‘s development isn’t going according to the plan because a professional skier has lost her life during recording promotional footage for Ubisoft.

Matilda Rapaport was in Farellones, Chile – she was recording videos for Ubisoft, but an avalanche caught up to her. She subsequently deceased in the hospital due to oxygen deprivation and brain damage. The Red Bull-sponsored athlete has posted a video just hours before the avalanche on her Instagram with the #STEEPGame hashtag, and this video turned out to be her last public outing: a few hours later, a major snowstorm caused that particular avalanche which took her life.

Ubisoft‘s statement follows: „Matilda’s courage, passion, and desire to share the sport she loved the world served as an inspiration for other athletes and us all. This tragic accident has deeply touched us. Our hearts and prayers go out to her husband and her wider family at this difficult time.” Red Bull’s statement says „Matilda was an extraordinary athlete, traveling the world to find her passion, ride steep terrain and share her bright smile.”

Hopefully, Rapaport‘s spirit will inspire Ubisoft to make Steep an excellent title – it’s coming in December on PS4, X1, and PC.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
